Beautiful species for the red color of thorns and flowers. Always solitary, it is initially globular but then assumes a columnar shape, reaching three meters in height. Sunny, well-ventilated exposure and mineral substrate are the basis for obtaining well-formed specimens. In winter it tolerates cold if well dried.
