Species widespread in eastern Africa, between Ethiopia and Eritrea, interesting for the thick, narrow and elongated leaves with a horny margin from which sparse red thorns sprout, collected in loose, sessile rosettes (without stem) which branches with age.
The name refers to the Italian Manfredo Camperio, a fighter during the Risorgimento wars and then a deputy of the Kingdom of Italy and an explorer of East Africa.
