Acaulescente species with leaves arranged in rosette, green or spotted that often dry up after flowering. It has an enlarged root, perennial. The flowers are small and collected in an inflorescence that can reach 50 cm in height. The name derives from the white color of the flowers of the original forms of Ethiopia, while those spread in South Africa have pink or red bracts. Growth is above all autumn-winter. Very sensitive to infestations of mealy bugs.
